Taxes can sound like intense or just annoying, but they are necessary for civilization. I have included the IRS's (Internal Revenue Service) website that includes deadlines, resources for filing taxes, and different forms and records you will need.

There are plenty of companies that can file taxes for you but most will cost you money. There are a few that offer filing for free, but I would read through their agreements to ensure its true. Included below is a video on a step by step instruction to filing taxes with Intuit TurboTax as an example.

Ensure you are setting reminders to file your taxes early in the new year so you aren't rushing when April rolls around. Don't always count on having a refund from the IRS, depending on your job and how much they take out of your paycheck that year will determine what you owe or are owed.

Budgeting can be different from person to person, but there are generalized guides you can follow. Budgeting involves allocating funds for different areas of your life based on how much you make monthly or biweekly. A few areas that are important to set money aside for if you are just starting out is rent, grocery shopping, gas, savings, and spending. Depending on your spending habits is how much you can set aside for each area that is needed.

I have also included a video from someone who went through the Khan Academy and breaks down the key aspects they learned from the course on budgeting. It is a long video but has a lot of critical information if you want to start budgeting on your own.

Building credit starts with having a good history of credit, which takes time. Starting with a credit card can help you start building longevity, but only if you do it the right way. The right way is using the credit card for one thing (at least in the beginning), and paying it off completely that month. This can be things that you already budget for such as groceries or gas.

Other areas that positively impact your credit score:

• Paying your loans on time

• Not getting too close to your maximum credit limit

• The different types of credit accounts you have (car loans, credit cards, mortgages)

• The number or credit accounts

• The length of your credit accounts

• Ensuring you check your credit reports for errors

Make sure you are researching credit cards before applying for them so you know if there are any fees or how much the interest rate is. These two areas are what will cost more money if you don't pay attention to it.

Loans are other ways to improve your credit score as long as you are able to pay them off monthly. You can look around for loans similarly to credit cards.
