Financial Literacy

Game Playing Pieces_edited.jpg

Financial literacy is about understanding money in ways that allows you to manage, invest, save, and spend responsibly. This skill is essential to your independence because it is the means by which you live. You need money to buy food, pay for rent, and save for things you want and emergencies. The video above starts by introducing you to 10 basic financial concepts.

It is important to be aware of where and when you spend your money. Tracking your spending habits can allow you to budget effectively. Budgeting involves setting aside money for specific areas of need such as grocery shopping, rent, pet food, gas, gifts, etc. It will depend on what is necessary for you and your life.

SAVE

Save money by cooking more, tracking your spending, and automatically transferring money to savings.
